What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Assistant position at First United Methodist Church of Pearland?
The Finance Assistant is responsible for receiving and processing donor contributions along with other related tasks. This is a part-time position, 10-15 hours per week, serving under the direction of the Finance Director with room for growth.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise the counting of offerings weekly, typically on Mondays
- Post contributions to the donor management system
- Prepare and make appropriate bank deposits
- Assist church members with issues concerning contributions
- Work closely with pastors in obtaining information needed to prepare weekly giving reports
- Email quarterly giving statements to donors
- Prepare and mail acknowledgement letters for stock donations
- Prepare and mail memorial donation acknowledgement cards
- Prepare and distribute offering bags for Sunday services
- Prepare checks for mailing and file invoices weekly
- Attend staff and committee meetings as necessary
- Retrieves mail from the post office box twice weekly (Mondays and Wednesdays)

Requirements
- Excellent computer skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Google G-Suite products (Drive, Docs, Sheets, and sharing of files)
- Organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work with little supervision
Preferred Skills
- Mail merges in Word
- Familiarity with QuickBooks desktop and/or Church Community Builder
