We are seeking a Part-Time Accountant to support our church and non-profit organization as we establish stronger financial protocols and ensure compliance with tax regulations. As our organization expands, we need someone who understands church and non-profit accounting and can help us streamline financial processes while guiding our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as grant funding grows.
- Ensure tax compliance for church and non-profit activities, including event taxation.
- Oversee and verify payroll accuracy periodically.
- Maintain and clean up financial records, including a fresh ledger setup.
- Track grant expenditures and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assist in online bookkeeping (QuickBooks preferred) and streamline AP/AR processes.
- Research and proactively seek answers to tax and accounting questions.
- Guide a volunteer team in implementing best practices and financial organization.
Hard Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or equivalent experience.
- 4 years of accounting experience preferred (minimum 2 years required).
- Strong knowledge of church and non-profit tax regulations (Washington & Federal).
- Experience with QuickBooks or other online accounting tools.
- AP/AR and financial reporting expertise to determine useful reports.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with and guide a volunteer team with patience and clarity.
- Proactive, problem-solving mindset—willing to call and research when needed.
- Collaborative but independent, able to make recommendations and follow through.

Hours & Compensation:
- Part-time (estimated 10 hours per week over a period of 4 to 6 weeks. After completion of the initial contract, continued employment is desired at 5 to 10 hours per month)
- Compensation: $38-$45/hour DOE
- Hybrid options available (some in-person meetings preferred)
