As a key part of the ministry staff, the Office Assistant will work closely with the staff and lay leadership in supporting the ministry of the church. First UMC seeks to be an expanding community of the love and grace of God, inspiring lives of Christian discipleship. To that end, we are seeking an Office Assistant who is a self-starter, courteous, positive, professional part of the leadership of the church. Duties include answering phone calls, managing schedules, organizing files, greeting visitors, handling correspondence, maintaining office supplies, and assisting with data entry, essentially acting as the first point of contact for visitors and ensuring the smooth running of the office environment by managing various clerical duties.

Key responsibilities may include:
- Reception duties: Answering phone calls, directing calls to appropriate personnel, greeting visitors, and managing appointment scheduling.
- File management: Maintaining filing systems, organizing documents, retrieving files as needed, and ensuring accurate document storage.
- Correspondence handling: Preparing and distributing internal and external correspondence, including emails and letters.
- Data entry: Entering and updating information into databases, spreadsheets, or other systems.
- Basic administrative tasks: Copying, scanning documents, and managing mail distribution.
- Project support: Assisting with specific projects by providing administrative support as needed.
- Event coordination support: Assisting with hospitality and logistics to support special events.

Compensation:
- Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
- Job Type: Part-time
Schedule:
- 15 hours per week
- Tuesday to Thursday, 10:00 am- 3:00 pm
- Occasional weekend availability
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Pasadena, CA 91101: Reliably commute before starting work (Required)
