Overview
First United Methodist Church is looking for a part-time Director of Finance. Director of Finance shall serve as the internal accountant for the Church and shall maintain oversight of all financial and business transactions of the Church. Reports directly to the Pastor for operational concerns and related directly to the Finance Committee Chairperson for financial concerns. Please email resume or questions to jfleming@fumcmh.org.
Duties
- To ensure that contributions are counted, recorded and deposited each week and to ensure that adequate record keeping is in place to record all donations.
- To pay all invoices/disbursements and maintain supporting documentation for all expenditures.
- To process payroll on a bi-weekly basis and maintain employee records related to payroll including monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports.
- Reconcile and balance all church deposit accounts each month.
- Assist in planning and promoting stewardship campaigns as needed.
- To facilitate the development of an annual budget for the Finance Committee as well as monitor and report budget variances during the year.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual reports for the Finance Committee and Senior Pastor and prepare any other financial reports as requested.
- Prepare the financial information for newsletters and worship bulletins (as requested).
- Prepared for and cooperated with those appointed to perform audits of financial records.
- Oversee the church insurance programs
- Perform other necessary and related work as needed.
- Be available for periodic meetings, as requested.

- College degree preferred (BA in Accounting/Business Administration)
- Preferred five-year experience in a related field.
- Successful Background check and completion of Safe Gatherings Certification
