Media and Technology Coordinator
Full-Time; Salary Reports to: Communications Director
Position Overview:
The Media and Technology Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all technical and production aspects of FUMC Dothan, ensuring excellence in audio, video, lighting, and technology across worship services, events, and daily church operations. This role will be the primary point of contact for all church technology, including worship production, live streaming, and general tech needs such as TVs, projectors, and computers for Bible studies, classrooms, and staff offices.
Working closely with the Executive Pastor and Communications Director, this person will contribute creative insight to worship services and special events, manage technical equipment and software, train and develop volunteers, and ensure seamless execution of in-person and online experiences. The ideal candidate will be a fast-thinking problem solver with strong troubleshooting skills, able to take initiative to resolve video, sound, IT, and production issues as they arise.
This role will serve as the main liaison between our staff and local IT support, coordinating with them as needed while providing in-house troubleshooting for Windows and Mac systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other essential church software.
This position requires working Sundays for all worship services, as well as additional events, funerals, and weddings as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
· Production Leadership
o Oversee audio, video, live streaming, and lighting production for all worship services, programming and church events.
o Collaborate with the Worship team to design and manage all technical elements of services and events.
o Ensure that the technical and creative elements support and enhance the spiritual experience.
· Technology & IT Support
o Maintain and manage inventory of microphones, projectors, screens,sound boards, lighting, cameras, TVs, and related accessories across the church.
o Provide technical support for Sunday School classes, Bible studies, staff offices, and event spaces.
o Serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting IT issues and coordinating with the church’s off-campus IT support provider.
o Assist in managing Microsoft Office Suite, Windows, and Mac operating systems for staff and ministry needs.
o Research and recommend new technologies to enhance efficiency and impact.
· Team Development
o Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers and interns for production and technical roles.
o Develop a volunteer training program to ensure consistency and quality in production.
o Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and spiritual growth within the production team.
· Creative Insight and Collaboration
o Contribute creative insight to service planning and special events.
o Work with the Communications Director to enhance the online and in-person worship experience.
o Assist with the creative development of media content (e.g., videos, graphics) for services and events.
o An ideal candidate would record, edit, and produce video projects for worship services, ministries, and special events.
Qualifications:
· 2-3 years of relevant experience in audio, video, lighting production, IT support, or a related field.
· Preferred: Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree and/or certifications in media production, technology, communications, or a related area.
· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to take initiative and think quickly under pressure.
· Experience with Windows and Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and general IT troubleshooting.
· Working knowledge of digital audio consoles, video switchers, lighting consoles, and routers.
· Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
· Ability to recruit, train, and develop volunteers
· Ability to work Sundays, evenings, and special events (funerals, weddings, holiday services, etc.)
· Creative team-player mindset with the ability to enhance the worship experience through technical excellence.
