Music Director Job Description
· Consult with pastor about weekly or special services concerning –
o Upcoming scripture and sermon themes
o Congregational song selections
o Order of worship – additions or changes
· E-mail congregational song selections to musicians by Wednesday.
· Prepare praise music in binders for 2 song leaders and pianist prior to rehearsal
· Ensure guitarist(s) have chord charts in correct key
· Lead music rehearsal for congregational songs after choir and Sunday morning
· E-mail all music titles to administrative assistant for inclusion in the bulletin by early Friday morning
· Worship Service Instructions (WSI)
o Prepare WSI to include camera settings, order of worship, music details, On Mission speakers, etc.
o E-mail WSI to pastor for approval
o E-mail approved document to admin. Asst. by early Friday morning for printing and distribution.
o Upload WSI to Shared Bulletin – WSI folder
· Prepare ProPresenter lyric slides for praise songs with appropriate arrangement, copyright, and background (blank slide final slide of the set)
· Prepare hymn PowerPoint presentations (from UM Hymnal) in widescreen format with blank slide at the end.
· Prepare choir anthem or special music title slides with copyright.
· E-mail all music lyric slides and title slides, along with WSI, to presentations@richmondfirstumc.org by end of day Friday.
· Arrange for 2 song leaders for worship services.
· Communicate with A/V people about any music needs or details.
· Purchase music as needed.
· Lead midweek rehearsal and Sunday warm-up.
· Maintain music in choir room and in PowerChurch library.
· Choose and prepare handbell/choir music, if necessary.
· Lead handbell/choir rehearsal, if necessary.
· Maintain handbell equipment: bells, gloves, stands, etc.
· Arrange for Summer Music specials or other special music throughout the year.
o Find accompaniment music and rehearse as needed.
· Provide substitute worship service accompaniment.
· Attend monthly staff meetings.
· Facilitate Christmas caroling to shut-ins.
· Arrange for piano tuning as needed.
· Enter songs into CCLI Reporting as required.
Job Type: Part-time
