Bus Driver Position
Salary: $15/hour
Job Type: Full Time
Shift and schedule: Bus Runs- 14-20 hrs/week
Qualifications:
Chauffer’s License: 1 year (preferred), 6 months minimum driving experience with a 12 passenger vehicle or larger
Childcare: 1 year (preferred), 6 months minimum experience with children of ages 0-12.
High School Diploma: (required)
Must be 21 years of age
Ability to pass MDHHS background check: (required)

Bus Driver
General Expectations are as follows but not limited to:
- Do daily checks on the bus to make sure everything is in proper working order;
- Assist children on and off the bus, handing the child off to the pick up person;
- Closely follow Licensing regulations and adhere to all policies and procedures of First UMC Childcare Center;
- Maintain a safe and orderly environment for all staff and children;
- Assist and oversee in completing the end of the day checklist to ensure bus is maintained to health department and licensing standards which includes sweeping, wiping down seats & car seats at the end of each run
- Cultivate relationships with children, parents, guardians and other staff;
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion;
- Help with monitoring all bus supplies- Request as needed; refuels the bus as needed, etc.
- Properly punch in and out;
- Ensure you are up to date on trainings needed for your position;
- Assist in writing daily reports, recording attendance, cleaning, etc;
- Bus runs will be AM and PM (both classrooms)- Monday-Thursday with a possibility of adding Friday runs for 1 classroom.
- Additional field trip dates for classrooms will be given to the driver in advance.
- Maintain the transportation binder regarding child information and route information with assistance as needed from other staff
Interactions with Families and Staff
- Maintains a relationship with all families when arriving/departing from the drop off/pick up location;
- Treats all families with RESPECT;
- Encourages all families to participate in their child’s learning;
- Brings any feedback from the families back to the Director for review;
- Maintains a friendly, appropriate relationship with staff;
- Cooperates with all other professional staff that comes into the building or outside of the building at meetings that you may attend;
General/Professionalism
- Attend meetings, conferences, training, and any center functions set by the Center Director and the First UMC Childcare Center;
- Performs all other tasks deemed necessary by the Center Director;
- Meets deadlines in completing all tasks;
- Remains current in state requirements required by law- First Aid, CPR, and all training hours;
- Approaches problems in a constructive fashion, taking initiative to correct problems whenever possible, using NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct as a guide;
- Contributes ideas in helping First UMC Childcare Center grow and better service our children and families;
