Assistant Teacher Position
Salary: $12.48/hour
Hours: 30-32 hrs per week
Must be flexible Monday to Friday.
Looking for an assistant teacher that is excited to be in the classroom with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The applicant should have a PASSION for children and enjoy the life they bring to the classroom.
Qualified applicants:
- Will pass the various background checks required by LARA through MDHHS and Michigan State Police Department.
- Will be punctual and have minimal absences at work.
- Using developmentally appropriate practice methods, the applicant will assist in completing the activities throughout the day, assist in planning daily activities and lesson plans for the children in the classroom according to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needs.
- Will also be responsible for recording the daily activities pertaining to eating, sleeping, toileting habits, developmental milestones, and changes in mood for children.
- Build & Maintain healthy & friendly relationships with children, staff & families.
- Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for all
- Remain in compliance with licensing standards and requirements at all times
- Be a Team Player
General/Professionalism
- Attend meetings, conferences, training, and any center functions set by the Center Director and the First UMC Childcare Center;
- Remains current in state requirements required by law- First Aid, CPR, and all training hours; Completes 24 hours of professional development yearly
- Contributes ideas in helping First UMC Childcare Center grow and better service our children and families;
- Follow the policies set by the center to be in compliance with licensing and other local policies.
Qualifications:
- MUST have a high school diploma or GED (with a plan to get a CDA later)
- Be at least 18 years of age
- CPR, First Aid certified or obtain upon hire

Experience:
Childcare 1 year (preferred)- Minimum 6 months experience
teaching-1 year (preferred)
Child Development Associate Certification (CDA) (preferred-not required)
