INTERNAL AUDITOR POSITION OVERVIEW
Perform internal audits ensuring First Western Bank & Trust’s departmental policies and procedures are operating according to safety and soundness guidelines and internal control standards.
- Conduct audits of Bank, Insurance, Trust and Leasing operational areas to ensure proper policies and procedures are being followed
- Examine departmental records and interview workers to ensure transactions are in compliance with state laws and federal regulations
- Perform audits according to the audit schedule and prepare findings reports
- Provide objective and practical recommendations for management action based on findings
- Conduct follow-up reviews of any operational or regulatory deficiencies
- Assist with providing data and information to external examiners
INTERNAL AUDITOR QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related field, preferred but not required
- Minimum two years of auditing experience or an acceptable combination of education and relevant banking experience
- CCBIA – Certified Community Bank Internal Auditor or equivalent credentials preferred
INTERNAL AUDITOR SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Basic understanding of bank accounting practices, record keeping requirements, and fundamental principles of internal control
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with ability to assess and identify risks
- High degree of attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Confidentiality and tactfulness in dealing with bank and customer information is mandatory
- Computer processing skills and knowledge of Microsoft programs (i.e. Excel, Word)
