POSITION OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking an experienced Field Safety Manager to own the execution and management of our safety program in a multi-state environment. As a people first organization we believe in equipping our employees with the education and tools they need to be safe and excel in their role. Our Safety Manager will play a key role in ensuring all safety resources are easily accessible, received and understood.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development and implementation of the company’s safety programs, identifying the needs of the organization through regular presence in all operations, observing and interacting with leadership and employees.
- Facilitates the health and safety program through regular on-site safety inspections, audits and performance assessments, ensuring training completion and monitoring improvements as needed.
- Develops safety champion network across all branches. Providing coaching and expertise to these leaders.
- Partners with the Safety Administrator, Operations and HR Teams to ensure all departments are aligned on safety goals, objectives and accountability measures.
- Conducts post accident audits in partnership with the Safety Administrator and local leadership, determining root cause and appropriate corrective measures are taken to prevent further incidents from occurring.
- Advocates the importance of health and safety in the organization and actively supports the organization's efforts to meet or exceed health and safety goals and plans
- Participates in management review meetings to present health and safety performance, discuss upcoming actions to improve safety performance, and proactively identify and address health and safety issues which may affect operations or may provide strategic advantage to the business
- Develops strategies and provides guidance to management on the prevention of workplace incidents and illnesses
- Identifies health and safety resource needs during project proposal phase, based on project role, scale, hazard profile and technical complexity
- Actively promotes embedding health and safety in “what we do” and that health and safety is a shared responsibility rooted in the company culture
- Builds key external stakeholder relationships including industry associations, authorities and regulatory bodies on regional environmental, health and safety matters
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Safety program performance – Training completion and near miss reporting
- Audit and inspection completion – required changes made
- Accident and incident records – including lessons learned documented
ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT
- Reports directly to the COO
- Works closely with branch leaders, people managers and the HR team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in EHS or equivalent work experience in the building services or construction industries
- 5-7 years of progressive work experience leading safety and/or training programs in building services and/or construction, preferably HVAC or refrigeration
- Ability to travel frequently, at or around 50% - both driving and flying
- Must have a valid drivers license
- CSP or CHST preferred
- Regulatory knowledge including safety, environmental and other regulatory standards applicable to building services industries and construction
- Demonstrated ability to organize, motivate, and lead teams, drive change and interact cross functionally
- Proven ability to work in a matrix environment, influence and motivate diverse teams to achieve a unified goal
- Proficient in multiple software applications including, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other industry related software (SDS, Injury Management, etc.)
- Experience working in and administering learning management platforms, a plus
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills including ability to listen attentively and to communicate information clearly and effectively

Environmental Requirements
Has ability to work remote when not required in office for project-specific requirements. Ability to travel frequently via air and auto.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate the computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
