Key Responsibilities
- Assists with the assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimensions of patients to determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Implements individualized treatment plans, administering medications, performing diagnostic tests, and managing therapeutic diets.
- Responds to mental health crises using de-escalation techniques and standard emergency protocols.
- Assists with medical or minor surgical procedures as requested.
- Prepares clinical documentation, and communicates patient status to appropriate team members in a timely manner.
- Ensures accurate medication counts and complies with policies regarding controlled substances and sharps.
- Promotes a safe and therapeutic environment aligned with correctional healthcare standards.
- Attends mandatory training and staff meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support FirstClass Healthcare’s goals, objectives and values.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing
- At least 1 year of experience in a relevant healthcare setting, especially in mental health or corrections.
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in Georgia
- Valid CPR Certification
- At least one (1) experience in mental health, psychiatric, or behavioral health settings.
- Experience working in correctional, inpatient psych, or substance use treatment environments.
- Training in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) or other de-escalation methods.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to think critically, follow standardized procedures, and adapt to varying clinical scenarios.
- Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations effectively and calmly.
- Possess strong judgment, discretion, high level of confidentiality, flexibility and integrity.
- Strong attention to detail, follow-up and timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a secure, fast-paced environment with potentially high-stress situations.
- The position requires the ability to lift and/or carry up to 15 pounds with prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting at a desk, viewing a computer and read a variety of materials. Must be able to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with your hand or hands. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks, such as typing for extended periods of time.
