About the Role

FirstEnergy’s Legal team is hiring a Legal Specialist to support a mix of regulatory, litigation, and compliance work across multiple attorneys. This is a dynamic role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, balances proactive legal process management with responsive legal tasks, and brings sharp attention to detail.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with litigation support, regulatory responses, internal tracking, and case filings
• Manage legal document repositories, reporting, and workflow using tools like FileNet, PACER, NetDocuments, and SharePoint
• Support multiple attorneys with varying work styles and expectations—flexibility and communication are key
• Draft and edit internal reports and documents, and occasionally prepare materials for regulators or outside counsel
• Collaborate with departments outside Legal, contributing to cross-functional legal needs

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• 4 years in a legal support, paralegal, or compliance-focused role
• Proficiency in legal systems and tools such as FileNet, PACER, Lexis, SharePoint, SAP, or NetDocuments
• A paralegal certificate from an ABA-accredited program is strongly preferred
• Excellent writing and editing skills—accuracy and clarity matter
• Ability to manage time across multiple deadlines with occasional overtime based on filings or projects

Nice to Have

• Experience in utilities, energy, or highly regulated industries
• Familiarity with compliance tracking or regulatory filings
• Strong stakeholder communication skills
