About the Opportunity
This is for 2 open positions with the Metropolitan Edison Company (Met-Ed), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
The Mapping Technician supports Distribution operations and Engineering Services by entering information in Environmental Systems Research Institute’s (ESRI) ArcGIS software, providing important updates to the Company’s Geographic Information System (GIS) application. The Mapping Technician leverages software use and learned expertise in AutoCAD to perform projects and tasks. These positions work on site and are located at the Reading Office in Reading, PA.

- Demonstrating a solid commitment to all aspects of safety
- Documenting entries in Environmental Systems Research Institute’s (ESRI) ArcGIS software, exercising a moderate degree of individual judgement
- Performing mathematical calculations for problem solving
- Analyzing work requests, drawings, and maps; compiling, posting, and recording various types of data on maps, ESRI and other computer systems
- Updating and maintaining compliant records to support technical reports, metrics, and information systems
- Providing ongoing assistance during emergencies and storm-related activities
- Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent and satisfactorily completed courses in Algebra and Geometry is required
- Demonstrated completion of college-level AutoCAD course is required
- Pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH) Level I employment test
- Basic knowledge of electric theory
- Solid communication ability and collaboration skills
- Willing to seek guidance and advice to fill gaps in understanding
