Overview
The Warehouse Operations Manager, under the supervision of the Director, Distribution Center Operations-AL, is tasked with the day-to-day operations of the company’s Alabama warehouses and will oversee the efficient receipt, storage, picking, wrapping/stabilization, shipping, and dispatch of a wide variety of products.
You must be a role model, leader, problem solver, make informed decisions, and be accountable in the management of the Shipping and Receiving departments to achieve maximum results.
The Warehouse Operations Manager will oversee the facilities and, be responsible for the guidance, discipline, safety, and growth of all warehouse personnel.
Ultimately, you must be able to ensure productivity targets are achieved and that all warehouse processes are running smoothly, efficiently, and promptly.
Responsibilities
- Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
- Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions.
- Manages and controls inventory levels by conducting physical and cycle counts; reconciling with the ERP system; and producing reports and statistics regularly (IN/OUT status report, dead stock report, ABC reports, Missed Fulfillment reports, etc.)
- Maintains the physical condition of warehouses by planning and implementing new design layouts and ensuring efficient space utilization; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
- Completes warehouse operational and business requirements by scheduling and assigning employee work schedules; and following up on work results.
- Maintains warehouse staff by interviewing, selecting, recommending, orienting, and training employees.
- Adjust priorities and manage time, people, and resources wisely in a fast-paced environment.
- Uses scanning terminals to record and move inventory stock from Picked to Packed/Shipped status
- Collaborate with warehouse employees and other staff to ensure business goals are met
- Ships products both domestically and internationally using SXe, CSD, TWL, Pacejet, and a wide variety of carriers.
- Develop knowledge about freight and sea shipping regulations and practices.
- Maintains close working relationships with Pickers/Pullers/Packers/Shippers, and Inventory Control staff for a seamless flow of product through the facility and a steady flow of work to the packing lines.
Skills
- 4 years of increasing experience in the warehousing, distribution, logistics, fulfillment, or transportation industry.
- 4 years of experience in warehouse management and supply chain management procedures and best practices.
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
- Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- 4 years of warehouse management software, inventory management, and product flow and productivity standards.
- Experience in ERP systems systems. (SAP, Oracle, Infor, Lawson, Peoplesoft, etc.)
- strongly preferred.
- Forklift certification is required.
- Able to share knowledge and skills to enhance the teams’ overall productivity and effectiveness.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), MS Teams, Zoom, general internet use, and Windows-based software and databases.
- Must be able to accurately type between 45 and 60 WPM.
- Clearly defines goals, understands audiences, manages productive meetings, and builds team morale.
- Presentation skills with the ability to address an audience of various sizes and effectively communicate his/her message and ideas.
- Pay is DOE 60K - 70K
