Overview
Primarily responsible for all aspects of prepping, scanning, indexing, and processing current IP/OP discharges and loose reports.
Qualifications
The following qualifications or equivalents are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job.
Education and formal training: Associate’s degree in Health Information Management or related field or related experience in the health information management field.
Work Experience: Two years of experience in a health information management setting with additional experience in quality control/ analysis. Excellent PC knowledge and skills including windows and hospital information system software.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required: Familiarity with medical terminology and medical record documentation requirements. Excellent written and oral communications skills, including English usage, punctuation and grammar. Data entry skills of 45 wpm. Ability to perform production-oriented work under pressure with ongoing time constraints. Must be able to work unsupervised and be self-motivated, with excellent customer service skills. Quality Control Analysts must understand and be able to perform basic prepping, scanning and indexing functions.
Knowledge of the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and related documentation requirements for patient medical records. Knowledge of patient privacy laws at both a state and federal level including HIPAA.
