Job Title: Caregiver for 88-Year-Old Male with Moderate Dementia
Location: Greenwich, CT
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay: $18 to $21/hour

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable caregiver to provide assistance and companionship for an 88-year-old male with moderate dementia. The primary goal of this role is to offer respite for the client’s spouse, who is an artist and needs time to resume her artwork. The caregiver will be responsible for supporting the client with activities of daily living and providing a safe, engaging environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with showering, dressing, and other activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, including when not completed by the spouse in the morning.
• Provide supervision and assistance with mobility, especially outside, using a walker.
• Help with meal preparation (lunch) and clean-up.
• Offer companionship and engage in activities that promote mental stimulation and well-being.
• Support the client with incontinence care (nighttime incontinence, no daytime issues; wears Depends).
• Work with the spouse and client to identify and participate in activities outside the home, promoting social interaction and independence.
• Ensure safety at all times, especially when the client is walking or moving around.

Qualifications:

• Experience caring for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or other cognitive impairments.
• Comfortable assisting with personal care tasks such as dressing and bathing.
• Ability to safely support mobility with gait issues, using a walker as needed.
• Compassionate, patient, and understanding approach with seniors.
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, while maintaining open communication with the family.
• Must be comfortable working in a home environment and providing companionship as part of daily care.

Additional Details:

• Client is conversant and generally communicative, though some cognitive support is needed.
• The role involves both caregiving and companionship throughout the day.
• The caregiver will help to ensure that the client remains engaged and comfortable while providing necessary breaks for the spouse.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
