Job Overview
As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate support and assistance to individuals in need of care. This position is essential for enhancing the quality of life for patients, particularly in settings such as Level I and Level II Trauma Centers, outpatient facilities, teaching hospitals, and medical-surgical units. You will work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the highest standard of care across various environments, including geriatrics and inpatient settings.
Duties
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, fostering a positive environment.
- Monitor patient health by observing and reporting changes in their condition to nursing staff.
- Help with mobility assistance, ensuring patient safety during transfers and ambulation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas to promote a safe environment.
- Support healthcare teams in delivering care in specialized areas such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) and hospital medicine.
- Document patient interactions and care provided accurately in compliance with facility protocols.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar caregiving role is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with healthcare settings such as outpatient services or trauma centers is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while also being capable of working independently when necessary.
