What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Fiber Design position at FIRSTLIGHT?
Summary: The Manager of Fiber Design is responsible for managing the Fiber Design Technicians. The Manager will be responsible for leading and motivating the team to design ISP/OSP construction prints, splice plans, as built records, and fiber optic trouble ticket support. The Fiber Design Manager is expected to ensure standards are being followed consistently. The Manager is expected to mentor, motivate, and assist technicians achieve their professional goals along with the corporate objectives. This position plays a key role in supporting the organization in the installation and support of the fiber optic network.
Responsibilities:
- Communicates clearly and often with other departments while managing the Fiber Design Team.
- Utilizes Sitetracker reports to manage on time task completion.
- Sets clear goals and expectations to the team and supports them to achieve these targets.
- Works with other departments to streamline operational processes and improve efficiencies. Specific to Fiber Construction and Fiber Infrastructure.
- Stays current with emerging technologies for documenting OSP and ISP data.
- Works closely with the Managers of Fiber Construction and Fiber Infrastructure.
- Maintains open lines of communication with the Records Team.
- Oversees all safety policies are followed by internal employees and contractors.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to build relationships with internal and external customers.
- Acts as an escalation point for all OSP damaged cable events within the region.
- Solid organizational and prioritization skills are essential.
- Identifies, coordinates, and provides training programs for employees.
- Manages the Fiber Design Technician on call rotation.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all Company Policies & Procedures
- Monitors the quality of the Fiber Design Technicians regularly.
- Maintains a positive attitude and leads by example.
- Other duties as assigned.
