Job Summary:
The Payment Systems Specialist will serve as the principal contact for staff and members while demonstrating enthusiastic, professional, and courteous service. This individual will follow established policies and procedures to provide high-quality service. Responsibilities include operational processing related to the Payments Department including but not limited to; plastic cards, ACH, drafts, ATM, payroll, wires, reclamations, charge off accounts, various vendor settlements, and returned checks (as assigned).
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for processing various transactions, maintenance, conducting research, processing, balancing various reports, and reconciling simple general ledgers.
- Responsible for processing various posting exceptions (ACH, ATM, Drafts).
- Processes stop payment orders for member accounts and cashier’s checks.
- Responsible for documenting processes and creating procedures.
- Completes charge-off and close-out packages for share draft accounts.
- Researches and resolves member credit, debit, ACH, and deposit disputes.
- Responsible for processing and approving daily and monthly wire, and invoice settlements.
- Balances the ATMs, researches outages, and reconciles general ledgers.
- Balances and maintains a log of all branch cash orders. Works with the Accounting Department to ensure appropriate funds are transferred into the Federal Reserve account daily.
- Process Share-draft posting exceptions and returned checks from the FRB.
- Answers all inquiries as it relates to Payment Systems.
- Processes ACH origination requests (both internal and external).
- Process reclamations received by external parties.
- Processes and balances the new account applications funded via ACH.
- Processes debit card increases and debit card rush order requests.
- Reviews and approves checks submitted through mobile remote deposit capture.
- Maintains responsibility for checks sent from the Financial Centers and ATM courier services by securing and destroying as indicated per records retention.
- Performs cash management duties of ordering cash, balancing reports, and auditing cash held in the vendor vault.
- Performs all required monthly reporting and reconcilements.
- Performs ACH and wire processing. Reviews Payroll and processes as received by various school districts.
- Develops and maintains a working knowledge of the credit union’s data processing system including but not limited to; Symitar, Document Processing, Opening Act, Check 21, Fedline, Tranzact, Master site, Star Station, and Ensenta.
- Develops and maintains a working knowledge of rules and regulations associated with Payment Systems including but not limited to; NACHA, The Card Act, UCC, Regulation CC, D, E, etc.
- Develops an understanding of the credit union history, philosophy, operational procedures, vision, common purpose, and shared values.
- Responsible for effectively applying independent judgment and resolving complex problems.
- Adheres to all regulatory, State, and Federal banking rules.
- Performs other job-related duties as needed.
Job Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- At least 1-year experience in Payment Systems or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a financial institution is preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good analytical ability.
- Ability to multitask and operate effectively under stress.
- Possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Previous general ledger reconciliation experience is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

Position schedule:
- Monday thru Friday with either rotating or assigned shifts depending on job duties.
- 7:30 am - 4:30 pm
- 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
- 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
