What are the responsibilities and job description for the System Administrator position at Firstmark Credit Union?
As a System Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in provisioning, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing our system infrastructure. With minimal supervision, you will take ownership of ensuring that our IT environment remains secure, efficient, and scalable. This role requires a proactive approach to system security, performance optimization, and process improvement, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.

What you'll do:
- Ensure maximum availability, performance, and stability of systems, infrastructure, and applications through various monitoring solutions.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for escalated and unresolved issues.
- Work with incident response teams to perform root cause analysis and take corrective actions.
- Identify security risks and vulnerabilities in the organization’s IT infrastructure and propose solutions.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as HIPAA, GDPR, PCI DSS, and others.
- Manage user access control, authentication systems, and permissions.
- Enforce password policies and secure authentication practices.
- Ensure regular backups of critical systems and data.
- Develop and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Respond to data loss incidents and restore systems as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of security incidents, actions taken, and outcomes.
- Promote best practices for maintaining security in day-to-day operations.
- Collaborate with network administrators, system administrators, and other IT staff to design and implement secure system solutions.
- Provide guidance and technical support to other departments on security-related matters.
- SQL monitoring of system health and performance.
- Creating and managing SQL Server databases and their associated files.
- Configuring SQL server settings, such as memory, processor, and disk allocation.
- Implementing and enforcing SQL security policies and procedures.
- Managing SQL Database user accounts, roles, permissions, and Database access.
- Performing regular SQL database backups and restoring databases from backups to ensure data integrity.
- Keeping SQL Server up to date with OS and security updates.
- Respond to database emergencies and outages and collaborate with vendors to resolve technical issues.
- Administration and maintenance of Windows Failover Clusters hosting SQL Server role.
- Monitor System and security infrastructure after hours and weekends (on-call rotation)
- May be required to work extensive overtime hours, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends.
- Performs other job-related duties as needed.

- Intermediate expertise of Microsoft 365 administration, including, but not limited to:
- Azure
- Intune
- Exchange Online
- Teams
- Intermediate expertise with VMware administration, including, but not limited to:
- vCenter
- ESXi
- vSAN
- Horizon
- Intermediate expertise with Linux-based server operating systems administration, including, but not limited to:
- Package management
- LVM/block device management
- SELinux
- Intermediate expertise of backup concepts, including, but not limited to:
- Understanding of incremental/reverse incremental chains
- Understanding of GFS backups
- Familiarity with SCCM and patch management.
- Familiarity with Windows imaging and WIM file maintenance.
- Familiarity with MacOS administration.
- Familiarity with networking concepts such as ARP, DHCP, DNS, subnetting, etc.
- Ability to convey technical solutions that non-technical business units can understand while remaining courteous and professional.
- Familiarity with SQL administration.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related major OR at least 2 consecutive years working in a related position.
- Experience with various security tools and platforms.

- Intermediate expertise with PowerShell scripting.
- Capacity management reporting.
- Microsoft Certified: Window Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.

- Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals or above expertise.
