Assistant Controller
A dynamic media and technology company located in Fairfield, NJ, is looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join their team. This pivotal role will work closely with the Director of Finance and Accounting to oversee and optimize the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting and supporting critical financial decision-making. As the Assistant Controller, you’ll manage day-to-day accounting activities, assist with financial planning and analysis, and collaborate with leadership to align financial goals with business strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee all aspects of daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management.
- Provide expertise in addressing complex accounting issues, ensuring adherence to proper accounting treatments and industry standards.
- Prepare, review, and ensure the accuracy and GAAP-compliant preparation of financial statements.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and tax preparation, ensuring timely and accurate compliance.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
- Partner with senior management to develop, manage, and monitor departmental and company-wide budgets.
- Deliver insightful financial analysis to inform decision-making for current and upcoming business initiatives.
- Monitor cash flow, forecast financial needs, and ensure the company maintains appropriate liquidity levels.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports to identify trends, operational insights, and opportunities for strategic action.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise, mentor, and train junior accounting staff, supporting their professional growth and development.
- Serve as the key liaison between the finance department and external stakeholders, including banks, investors, and vendors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
- 3-5 years of hands-on accounting experience, with a strong foundation in GAAP.
- Previous experience supervising or leading a team.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Salary : $100,000 - $110,000
