Desktop Technician

Job Details

  • Up to $27 / hour with weekly pay
  • Type : Contract (12 months)
  • 100% Onsite
  • Schedule : Monday through Friday, 8 : 30 AM – 5 : 00 PM

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide in-person support for the issuance of new Windows 11 laptops to end-users.
  • Assist users with setup, including email configuration, software installations, and ensuring successful login.
  • Verify OneDrive syncing for key documents, bookmarks, and other cloud-based services.
  • Guide users through basic Windows 11 and Office 365 functionality.
  • Perform pre-migration assessments, including inventorying installed software and verifying settings.
  • Oversee the backup of critical data from old laptops and transfer system settings, printers, and approved software to new devices.
  • Ensure new laptops check in properly with tools like Intune, SCCM, Zscaler, and patch / security management systems.
  • Facilitate the return process for old laptops, including packaging for shipment and recycling into inventory.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure smooth device migration and resolve any user issues.
  • Adhere to a checklist to streamline the issuance and migration process.

    • Job Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in IT support, including both hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows 10 to Windows 11 migrations and understanding common challenges and solutions.
  • Proficiency in basic hardware and software support, including imaging devices and working with SCCM or Intune.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to support users in person.
  • Familiarity with OneDrive syncing, Office 365 applications, and basic user training techniques.
  • Ability to follow structured processes and maintain accuracy in system migrations.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed between locations
  • Comfortable working through checklists and coordinating device replacement cycles.
  • Experience managing and deploying laptops in a professional environment, including inventory tracking and recycling.
