Position Overview:
Our $70M nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Controller with a strong background in accounting, who is ready to grow into the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This leadership position will manage a small accounting team, providing mentorship and strategic oversight while ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the organization’s financial functions. Experience with Sage accounting software is a must.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the accounting team, providing direction, support, and professional development to staff members.
- Oversee all aspects of accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) functions, ensuring accuracy, timely payments, and efficient collection of outstanding invoices.
- Review, prepare, and maintain contracts, agreements, and other key financial documentation to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present regular financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other key financial metrics.
- Ensure the integrity of financial data, including monthly and year-end closing processes.
- Assist in developing and monitoring internal controls, budgets, and financial forecasting.
- Partner with senior leadership to provide strategic insights and support organizational financial planning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience in accounting and financial management within a nonprofit or similar environment.
- Strong proficiency in Sage accounting software is required.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
