firstPRO is now accepting resumes for a Junior Database Administrator. This role will be located in Boston and operate on a hybrid schedule requiring 2-3 days per week onsite. This is a perm hire position that comes with salary, yearly bonus, and great benefits package. Candidates need to be able to come onsite in Boston and the ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Database Administrator will assist in the management of all databases and database servers firm wide. Major technical duties include the management of SQL Server and related hardware, including storage allocation, database backups, software deployments and documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in the operation of the firm’s database servers and storage. This includes software installations, upgrades, service packs, system monitoring and job scheduling.
- Administer and document database backup and maintenance policies and procedures and oversee their implementation. Ensure that all of the firm’s critical databases are adequately backed up and restored on a regular basis. Participate in the firm’s disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Assist IT staff with database-related work, including writing queries, scripts and stored procedures. Assist in code tuning and optimization.
- Assist IT staff with software deployments as required.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide dedicated support to HRIS team with viDesktop/viWave and other HR software
- Responsibilities will include software installation, customization and upgrades as well as all day to day operational support.
- Performs other work related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with a minimum 1 - 3 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Hands-on knowledge of and experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or above
- Knowledge of Windows Server 2012 and above
- Knowledge of SQL, TSQL and general database design and maintenance principles
- Understanding of multi-office network environment
- Application installation, data conversion and testing experience
- Experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies and issue resolution techniques
- Excellent listening skills and written and oral communication skills, including effective presentation skills

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
