Pricing Analyst
Boston or New York - 2 days in-office
The Pricing Analyst, reporting to the Manager of Pricing and Legal Project Management, will collaborate with attorneys and other internal teams to enhance financial performance and ensure exceptional client service throughout all financial touchpoints.
This role involves conducting financial analysis to assess pricing proposals and providing strategic insights to support the firm's pricing initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, the ability to build relationships across all levels, and a passion for working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sophisticated financial models to assess pricing proposals, including alternative fee arrangements, and provide creative, viable solutions to meet client pricing needs
- Assist in preparing estimates, creating budget templates, and identifying relevant precedent matters and data points
- Analyze historical client and matter data to guide pricing proposals and inform strategic business decisions
- Support the development and maintenance of pricing databases to improve the accuracy of budgets and alternative fee arrangements
- Monitor large-scale budgets and manage the firm’s portfolio of active alternative fee arrangements and budgets
- Lead proactive data analytics projects to identify opportunities and risks for firm leadership, attorneys, and practices
- Collect financial data for client RFPs and prepare pricing responses for submissions
- Assist in implementing fee arrangements and billing rates, identifying areas for efficiency improvements
- Contribute to developing training materials and documentation related to pricing and client value processes
- Stay informed about current legal and non-legal pricing trends, applying this knowledge to improve pricing capabilities
- Take on additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Pricing and Legal Project Management
Skills and Requirements:
- Strong financial analysis skills, with the ability to prepare concise reports on the financial impact of pricing proposals
- A curious mindset with a desire to learn new technologies, emerging industry trends, and practice-specific details
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, able to collaborate effectively with attorneys and staff at all levels
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity
- Proficiency in Excel (including VLOOKUP and pivot tables), with advanced skills in Word and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational skills, capable of managing large data sets, multitasking, prioritizing projects, meeting deadlines, and adapting to change
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3 years of related experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services setting
