As a 2023 FIS University Program full-time employee, you will have the opportunity to participate in team projects, community service activities, professional development seminars and work with a team that is invested in your growth, development, and success; including bi-annual performance connects with your manager.
This two-year full-time program has start dates in January, March, June, and September with a dedicated “Learning Week” where you will:
- Learn how to work within a corporate environment
- Learn about the exciting world of Fintech and the role FIS plays
- Hear from FIS leadership about their journey and participate in senior leader networking opportunities
- Build a network of your peers from across the organization
This position is for a June 26, 2023 start.
About the team
The Technology Knowledge Services team is a diverse group of technical writers and other communications professionals for whom the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge is a passion. We use Astoria software to create and maintain DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) content for all kinds of documentation, including user and technical guides, getting started instructions, FAQs, online help, procedures, and field descriptions. We also implement and maintain tools that provide easy access to knowledge for the entire company. There are nearly 100 team members spread across the United States and locations in India.
What you will be doing
- Learning how technical writers function within the software development and the Fintech industries.
- Establishing your own style as a technical writer and technical communicator.
- Participating in the Agile development process and gaining experience in the methodology and how technical writers are included in the process.
- Becoming familiar with and learning about one or more Banking Solutions or Payments products.
- Learning how to interpret technical information to develop new documentation content (as opposed to editing existing content) for one or more products.
- Applying FIS technical writing standards to new and existing documentation.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Fluent in English; Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptability, a drive to learn, and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well independently and within a team
Added bonus if you have
- A degree (or a minor) in Technical Writing and Editing
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- The ability to spot an error or missing information in a topic about which you have little knowledge or in which you have little experience
- The ability to ‘translate” technical information into simple English
- The ability the self-critique
- The ability to know when to ask for assistance
