These skills will be used to:
- Draft, review, and negotiate real estate purchase and sale agreements, easements, development agreements, side agreements, vendor agreements, and leases for business partners.
- Manage and participate in litigation and claims.
- Review and counsel business partners on marketing and sales initiatives.
- Manage and mitigate legal risks by implementing company and legal department policies and procedures.
- Research legal concepts, statutory interpretation, and case law as needed.
- Promote legal compliance and risk management best practices throughout the Company.
- Coordinate and manage external consultants and partners.
- Communicate complex legal issues and risks in terms that our business partners can understand.
- Train and work with paralegals.
- Support the General Counsel as needed and perform such additional tasks assigned by the General Counsel.
Required Qualifications
- 7 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate.
- Member in good standing with a State accredited bar.
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Sound understanding of real estate law and title and survey.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior In-house experience, big/medium firm experience or homebuilding experience.
- Experience drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements
- Prior litigation management experience
- Strong commercial mindset and business acumen
Physical demands and work environment:
- Must use sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone, computer, and face-to-face contact.
- Must have the capability to effectively use and operate various items of office-related equipment such as but not limited to the computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
- Must be able to sit for long periods with low periods of reaching and standing.
- Must be able to work in an office environment.
- Limited travel.
