About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Survey Technician or Surveyor to join our team at Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc. (FTCH). As a key member of our surveying team, you will be responsible for conducting various field and office tasks including construction staking, engineering design surveys, boundary surveys, data collection, GPS, GIS mapping, mobile or terrestrial LiDAR collection, field investigation, field review, and coordination of multiple projects and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Operations: Adjust and operate surveying instruments, compile information necessary to stake projects for construction using engineering plans, operate computerized data collection, record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, and sketches, process survey data and create boundary, topographic, right-of-way, and as-built surveys with MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Client Coordination: Coordinate with project stakeholders, including clients, engineers, and contractors, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Project Support: Provide technical support to survey teams, assist with project planning and execution, and help maintain accurate records and documentation.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying or Engineering, or applicable experience.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to obtain Professional Surveyor (PS) license in the future a plus, but not required.
- 1 years of related surveying experience.
- Experience with MicroStation Select Series and Open Roads Designer.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Prior work on Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) projects.
- Ability to work on construction and project sites while complying with all applicable safety requirements.
- Work effectively both independently and as a team member.
- Perform responsibilities with attention to detail and deadlines.
