Adjunct Professor of Psychology and Counseling
Fisher College is seeking an Adjunct Professor of Psychology and Counseling - PS 625 Motivational Interviewing for Individuals and Groups to join our faculty team. This position involves teaching graduate-level courses in psychology and counseling, mentoring students, and contributing to the academic and professional development of future mental health professionals. The ideal candidate will bring both academic expertise and practical experience in clinical settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Teach graduate-level courses related to mental health and counseling, including addictions, and trauma in accordance with program standards.
- Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the department to update and refine course content to reflect the latest research and best practices in psychology and counseling.
- Student Mentorship: Provide academic guidance and career advice to students, fostering their growth as future counselors, therapists, or mental health professionals.
- Grading and Assessment: Evaluate student work, including papers, case studies, and presentations, and provide detailed, constructive feedback.
- Office Hours: Offer availability outside of class for individual student consultations and supervision, as needed.
- Compliance and Accreditation: Ensure courses align with accreditation standards and comply with institutional policies and ethical guidelines.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with research, trends, and emerging practices in psychology, mental health, and counseling.
Qualifications:
- Education: Doctorate (or a Master’s degree with significant experience) in Psychology, Counseling, or a closely related field. Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision preferred.
- Licensure (Preferred): Licensed as a mental health professional (LMHC/CMHC preferred).
- Experience: Three (3) years of clinical experience in counseling or psychotherapy settings.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to engage graduate students in complex topics.
- Technology: Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle, and comfort using virtual teaching tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
- Flexibility: Availability to teach synchronous online evening courses, and/or in person at the Boston campus on Friday mornings.
