FIWMD Facility and Heavy Equipment Operator Summary
Fishers Island Waste Management District (FIWMD) is looking for help with facility and heavy equipment operation and maintenance. You will report to the FIWMD manager. You will also be cross-trained to operate our Transfer and Compost Stations as an attendant, assisting and educating customers in properly separating materials, correctly operating compactors, and maintaining compost piles.
Qualifications and Skills
- valid driver's license and experience operating heavy equipment
- experience operating heavy equipment (skidsteer, backhoe, loader, horizontal grinder, cordwood processor) and power tools
- ability to perform routine machine maintenance and repairs
- ability to plow, paint, carry out minor repairs, etc.
- proficiency in welding is a plus
- conscientious and friendly with customers and fellow team members
- adaptable and willing to take initiative
- excellent time management
- ability to maintain daily logs for equipment use, maintenance, repairs, orders, parts, including on a computer in digital format
