SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Job Summary: Fishing Point Health Care is a Primary Care office that is seeking a full-time Medical Office Receptionist. The front desk receptionist plays a crucial role in day-to-day operations, they are the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and medical staff in a healthcare facility. Their role is essential to ensure a smooth and efficient functioning front desk area. The Medical Office Receptionist is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing patient check-ins and check-outs, scheduling appointments, and handling administrative tasks at the front desk. This role plays an important part in creating a positive and organized experience for patients and supporting the overall efficiency of the facility.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient Check-In and Registration:
· Greet and assist patients as they arrive at the office.
· Verify patient information, including insurance details, and update records as necessary.
· Collect and accurately record patient demographics and medical history.
Appointment Scheduling:
· Schedule appointments for patients, ensuring efficient use of provider's time.
· Manage the appointment calendar, reschedule appointments when necessary, and send appointment reminders to patients.
Phone and Email Communication:
· Answer incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate department or individual.
· Respond to patient inquiries, requests for information, and appointment-related questions via phone or email.
Insurance Verification and Billing:
· Verify patient insurance coverage.
· Explain insurance policies and billing procedures to patients.
· Collect co-payments and outstanding balances from patients at the time of service.
· Obtain Prior authorizations when needed.
Medical Records Management:
· Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with privacy regulations (HIPAA).
· Retrieve and file medical records as needed.
Office Administration:
· Maintain a clean and organized front desk area.
· Manage office supplies and notifying management when supplies are low.
· Assist with other administrative tasks, such as data entry, scanning, and filing.
Patient Assistance:
· Aid and support patients with mobility issues, filling out forms, or other special needs.
· Address patient concerns and direct them to the appropriate staff members for resolution.
Adherence to Policies and Regulations:
· Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
· Follow office policies and procedures to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Previous experience in a medical office (1-3 years)
· Strong computer skills and proficiency with office software (e.g., electronic health records, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office). Medical software- Advanced MD (preferred).
· Previous experience in Primary care (Preferred)
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
· Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus.
· Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
· Successfully pass a background check to include criminal, and drug screen.
