POSITION SUMMARY:
Fisk University is looking for a Research Assistant/ Post Master’s Scholar in Data and Social Sciences. The position is funded by NSF Grant, 2235861, “Development of Inclusive STEM Curriculum Using Data Science Innovations of W.E.B. Du Bois to Promote Diversity in Science”. The Research Assistant will commit 12 person months per year. The research assistant will take at the Faculty Institute and all debriefing workshops as well as gather input for improving the module. Additionally, the post-master’s scholar will assist with administrative responsibilities, data collection, implementation, and analysis, as well as participate in writing manuscripts and publications for the project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Primary responsibilities include the following: oversee the grant activities; record management related to grants; coordinating data collection activities (qualitative and quantitative); data analysis; project reporting; assist in preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications; supervising and working with students. A master’s degree. in Data Science or Social Science fields (Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, or inter-disciplinary field), or a closely related field, is required.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
Additional expectations of a post master’s scholar include participation in campus activities that generate professional development leading to demonstrated achievement and other mandatory campus events. The individual should express a zeal for and competence in grantsmanship and be supportive of the University’s thrust to increase sponsored programs and outside funding.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Extensive knowledge of qualitative research methods, quantitative research methods (e.g., NVivo, Atlas.ti, or Dedoose), familiar with related software tools (e.g., SPSS, Python, R, or SAS), collegiate behavior with peers and a sincere interest in extracting the best from our students are important attributes of persons holding the position.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
A master’s degree in data science or social science fields (Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, or inter-disciplinary field), or a closely related field, is required.
Experience:
Research Design, data collection, and analysis.
Licenses or Certificates:
Research with Human Participants.
