Fissan Training Kennels in Farmington, MN is looking for part time kennel staff to join our team. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, ambitious, and reliable.
The Individual will be responsible for our animal guests' daily care and well-being, including, feeding, cleaning, and providing exercise and socialization. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be comfortable around all breeds of dogs.
Hours/Shifts
● 3 pm to 8:30 pm approximately
● Must work every other weekend Sat &Sun
● 10-20 hrs/week with ability to pick up extra
Requirements
● 16 years old
● Ability to work independently once trained.
● Must have reliable transportation.
● Prior experience working with animals preferred
● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
● Ability to work with all breeds and temperaments of dogs. Including working dog breeds. i.e. German shepherds, bully breeds as well as medium to small breeds
● Communication and customer service skills
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
● Ability to react quickly and respond to emergent issues.
● Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Physical Demands:
The Kennel Attendant will be required to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time. The position may also require bending, stooping, and kneeling.
Work Environment:
The individual will work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal hair, dander, and odors. The position may also require working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
● Feed and water animals according to their individual needs.
● Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and other animal living areas.
● Provide exercise and socialization for animals.
● Monitor animal behavior and report any concerns to management.
● Administer medication and treatments as directed by management or veterinary staff.
● Answer phones and assist customers with inquiries and reservations.
● Maintain accurate records of animal care and behavior.
Salary: The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience. Kennel staff starting pay $11/hr
