What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 SPRING Trust Fund Student Upward Bound Tutor/ Mentor position at Fitchburg State University?
Upward bound is seeking a student for employment. This position is funded by the university. All undergraduate students looking for employment are welcome to make application for this position. Please see below the specific duties and responsibilities for this role.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Actively work with staff in implementation, supervision, and support of youth in all phases of programming activities
Support students and staff in academic workshops
Tutor and supervise 10-12 students during tutoring/study sessions
Provide mentoring to potentially First-Generation College students
Supervise and maintain order among youth at all times
Attend all staff meetings and maintain records
Drive youth in 12-passenger van to special activities and field trips
Job Requirements:
30 college credit hours (minimum), GPA 2.8
Experience with youth programs preferred
Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of limited income and the targeted youth population
Demonstrates ability to work in a team setting
Driver's license strongly encouraged and available Saturday hours require driving of campus vans
Must be able to pass a CORI and FSU driver verification
Strong leadership abilities, interpersonal communication skills, and tutoring experience a plus

Shift Information:
Thursdays, hours vary by scheduled activity, 1:30 - 7:00pm (required)
Saturdays, hours vary by scheduled activity, 8:00am - 4:00pm (optional)
Employees are paid $15/hour
