- Tutors provide individual tutoring in subjects that the tutor has attained a grade of 3.3 or better. The tutor facilitates learning as a guide and academic coach. The purpose of tutoring is to increase the mastery of concepts or applications of course content and enhance the tutee's process of becoming a successful, independent learner. Tutors integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize the tutee's potential for academic success.
- As an employee of the Tutor Center, tutors are expected to maintain ongoing communication with their supervisor, attend required training, observation, and supervision. Tutors are also expected to refer students to other appropriate university resources as needed.
- Most of our tutors have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Tutor students in specific course material and integrate study and learning strategies. Assist students to implement learning principles and effective strategies for learning within their study routine.
- Contact the instructor of the course you are tutoring and discuss your role as a tutor.
- Participate in twelve hours of tutor training. Complete observation of tutoring session requirements.
- Complete and submit required documentation on time.
- Refer students to other campus resources appropriately.
- Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor and attend regularly scheduled supervision sessions. Read and respond to all emails in a timely manner.
Job Requirements:
- Tutors must earn a 3.3 or better in the course they wish to tutor and have received a faculty recommendation for at least one course that he/she plans to tutor. Tutors must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and complete the twelve-hour Tutor Training Seminar, required observations, and supervision sessions. Tutors must demonstrate an ability to establish a positive rapport and reliable communication with tutees; they must reach out to their assigned tutees within 24 hours of receiving tutor match emails (Monday - Friday) and provide their tutees as much notice as possible in rescheduling or cancelling a tutoring session. Tutors must also maintain open communication with the Tutor Center office and respond to communications from the office in a timely manner. Tutors must continue to uphold the policies of the Tutor Center and remain in good standing for continued employment.

Shift Information: This is an undergraduate student-only posting. Hours may vary depending on the students' schedules. Up to 20 hours per week at $15 per hour.
