Position Summary
As a professional level staff member in training, the Graduate Assistant shall have accountability for the Fitchburg State University Commuter Affairs program. Assist with the following: commuter life projects, supervision of student staff members, development of new Commuter initiatives, support of the Commuter Lounge, provide assistance with the Commuter CAS Standards Review, along with the food pantry and student professional clothing closet, assist the Senior Associate Director with the supervision of the Falcon Bazaar Intern(s).

Position Summary
As a professional level staff member in training, the Graduate Assistant shall have accountability for the Fitchburg State University Commuter Affairs program. Specific Duties
- Work with the Senior Associate Director to create and implement Commuter opportunities:
- Coordinate and execute multiple projects and opportunities each month for the Fitchburg State community (on and off-campus).
- Support and maintain the food and necessities pantry and the professional clothing closet
- Coordinate annual Care and Share Program d. Assist with the publicity of such events and services
- Maintain accurate Commuter records with the usage of Falconnect/Engage;
- Oversee the reservation of the Commuter Lockers;
- Assist with the supervision of the Falcon Bazaar Intern(s) (when applicable);
- Support the Hammond Hall Campus Center Employment Program with the direct supervision of 1-2 student employment areas.
- Participate in a rotation with the professional staff, directly supervise the operations for evening and weekend programs as assigned (minimum 2 nights a week on average);
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Good written and verbal communication skills; strong customer service orientation; ability to interact well with the diverse segments of the Fitchburg State University community.
- The successful candidate will be a mature, responsible, independent thinker, who demonstrates flexibility and good problem solving skills.
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous commuter and civic engagement experience.
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous programming of events experience.
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience working with college age students.

Compensation
- Graduate assistants will be paid approximately $12,000.00 for the academic year beginning in August 2025 and ending June 30, 2026 providing for an approximate biweekly stipend between $500.00 and $525.00 (if assistant is graduating in May 2026, their last day cannot be after Graduate Commencement).
- Assistants will work for 20 hours a week for 40 weeks in order to earn the full stipend.
- The appointment and award include a tuition and fees waiver for 15 semester hours of graduate course work for the academic year of the appointment.
- Position is contingent on applicants being accepted into the University's Graduate Program.
