The Area Manager provides strategic direction and support for an area of four (4) to six (6) clubs. Club Managers of those clubs report directly to the Area Manager. The Area Manager must display Fitness Connection culture to his/her clubs and be a creative team player who believes in the power of changing lives through fitness.. Our Area Managers oversee a portfolio of four (4) to six (6) clubs and supervise individual Club Managers. Area Managers are based in the geographic area of their portfolio clubs and work a varied and flexible work week, including some weekend, evening, and early morning hours as the business requires. Area Manager are expected to spend up to 85% of their work week in their portfolio clubs. Up to 10% travel may be required throughout the year for meetings and conferences. Additional travel may be required for area manager with an area that includes satellite market locations.
- High School Diploma or GED required, College Degree preferred
- For external hire, minimum of 12 months of multi-club management with a proven record of success required, fitness or sales focused industry a plus.
- For internal promotion, minimum of six months (18 months preferred) as a Club Manager with Fitness Connection; must be in good company standing and have a proven record of performance
- Knowledge of the Fitness industry as well as the necessary business acumen of running a complete business unit [Risk, Talent, Facilities, etc]
- Knowledge and skills in staffing with proven record of results
- Proficient in a variety of technology systems, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) and able to adapt to new systems easily
- Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record is required
- Criminal background check will be performed as a term of employment
- Position duties require daily standing, walking, sitting, lifting, bending, squatting, and reaching
- Daily travel to clubs within designated area
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business-related documents such as financial reports and legal documents
- Ability to respond verbally and in writing, to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to effectively present information to top management and to members of the business community
- Fluent in written and spoken English required, addition of Spanish skills a plus
