The Role:
The Swim Coach is a critical part of the FFC West Loop team, focused on delivering exceptional 1-on-1 swim instruction tailored to individual needs, particularly for adult beginners. Additionally, the Swim Coach will lead group swim classes and private lessons in alignment with standards set by the Fitness Director.
This role is perfect for a coach passionate about water safety, teaching proper swim techniques, and creating an inviting, inclusive environment for participants of all levels. Proficiency in the 4 main strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly) and elementary backstroke is essential.
The Swim Coach also has the unique opportunity to shape the future of our aquatics offerings, with potential to expand our program into group classes, master classes, and a full aquatics program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional, personalized 1-on-1 swim instruction, focusing on beginner adult swimmers and their individual goals
- Lead group swim classes, ensuring participants of all levels feel supported and challenged
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for members, guests, and co-workers
- Support club promotion and provide excellent customer service to retain and attract new members.
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of each class/session, beginning and ending on time
- Conduct class/session feedback and discuss progress with participants and/or their parents
- Ensure the pool area is restored to its original state after each class, including proper equipment storage
Qualifications:
- Swim Coach Certification
- CPR/AED Certification
- At least one year of swim coaching or instructor experience
- Passion for working with adult beginners and creating customized swim plans
- Ability to support program expansion efforts, including group and master classes
