Carpenter Apprentice/Laborer

This Job involves assisting experienced carpenters on construction sites by performing basic tasks like material handling, cleaning up debris, preparing work areas, and utilizing hand and power tools under close supervision, with the primary goal of gaining practical carpentry skills through on-the-job training to eventually become a fully qualified carpenter.

• Basic Construction Tasks:
• Cleaning up job sites, removing debris
• Loading and unloading materials
• Measuring and cutting lumber according to instructions
• Assisting with framing walls, floors, and roofs
• Installing doors, windows, and trim
• Learning Carpentry Skills:
• Observing experienced carpenters and learning proper techniques
• Learning to read blueprints and construction plans
• Familiarizing with hand tools (hammers, saws, levels) and power tools (drills, nail guns)
• Understanding building codes and safety regulations
• Support Functions:
• Preparing work areas by setting up scaffolding and protection materials
• Maintaining tools and equipment
• Following instructions from supervisors and ensuring quality standards are met

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, climb ladders, bend, and kneel
• Hand-Eye Coordination: Precision in measuring and cutting materials
• Basic Math Skills: Understanding fractions and measurements
• Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy and quality in work
• Safety Awareness: Following safety protocols on the job site

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
