San Francisco General Hospital Foundation (SFGHF) is a dynamic and growing nonprofit fundraising organization dedicated to promoting equity in healthcare for all at the Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG). Zuckerberg San Francisco General is the only provider of trauma (Level 1) and 24‐hour psychiatric emergency services for 1.5 million people in San Francisco and northern San Mateo counties. A comprehensive medical center, Zuckerberg San Francisco General provides quality health care with compassion and respect to 100,000 inpatient visits and 500,000 outpatient visits per year, including some of San Francisco’s most vulnerable. The Major Gifts Officer will join a diverse and inclusive Foundation staff at an exciting time as it continues to grow and advance public health in San Francisco.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Major Gifts Officer (MGO) is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, securing, and stewarding a robust portfolio of major institutional and individual donors and prospects. The MGO develops and implements a comprehensive gift solicitation plan and tailored strategies for donor relationship management to meet the Foundation's fundraising goals. Fundraising responsibilities include restricted and unrestricted annual gifts, multi-year gifts, cause-marketing and matching gift partners, and event sponsorship. This position requires a high degree of organization, focus, and the ability to work independently along with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. All onsite employees are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
ABOUT YOU
Some combination of the experience listed below is representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required :
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of five years of major gifts experience, with a proven track record of closing five- and six-figure gifts.
- Experience with donor and prospect research, managing a diverse portfolio of corporate and individual prospects and donors.
- Proven achievement of building effective, long-term relationships with new and prospective donors.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, metrics-focused, detail-oriented, and motivated by ambitious goals and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Raiser’s Edge, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
