About the Role

As the Director of Lending, you will oversee all aspects of lending operations, including underwriting and commercial lending. You'll be instrumental in driving performance, managing risk, and supporting our credit union's strategic goals. You will:
✅ Hire, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing lending team
✅ Oversee underwriting processes to ensure timely and accurate decisions
✅ Manage our MBL/Participation loan programs, including annual reviews
✅ Analyze lending data to recommend improvements and support growth
✅ Establish consistent loan procedures and exceptional member experiences
✅ Serve as a senior underwriter for escalated or complex loans
✅ Lead underwriting meetings to identify trends and optimize practices
✅ Collaborate with the executive team on product development and process improvements
✅ Conduct ongoing training on lending policies and best practices
✅ Participate in ALCO and loan review meetings, contributing insights and recommendations

Who We're Looking For

• A strategic leader with 3-5 years of experience in lending within a financial institution
• Proven supervisory experience and ability to lead with integrity and vision
• Strong knowledge of consumer lending, underwriting, and credit regulations
• Analytical and tech-savvy, with the ability to turn data into action
• A team player with excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
• Must be registered with the NMLS under the S.A.F.E. Act (background and credit check required)
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required
