What are the responsibilities and job description for the BEC SMP SHIP Program Specialist position at Five County Association of Governments?
Coordinate the Benefit Enrollment Program, Senior Health Insurance and Senior Medical Patrol Programs. This includes assisting Medicare Eligible individuals with screening, completion of application and enrollment in public benefits, assisting with open Medicare enrollment; including counseling to assist clients with choosing an appropriate plan, answering basic questions regarding their benefits, coverage and billing; and when needed help in resolving complex issues. In addition, the program coordinator will organize and participate in Medicare events, annual enrollment events, SMP events and recruiting and training volunteers to assist with Part D enrollment, Medicare issues and questions; with particular emphasis on outreaching to low income and/or disabled individuals. Program specialist will also be responsible for completion and submission of required reports to the National Council on Aging for BEC (Benefit Enrollment Center) program and the Division of Aging & Adult Services SHIP (Senior Health Insurance and Information Program) and SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol).
