This role is integral to the success of the Five Elms Sourcing Operations team which identifies and qualifies thousands of software companies that may fit our investment criteria. We are looking for a well-rounded candidate with an analytical approach to tasks, an aptitude for managing complex processes, and a critical thinking mindset. The ideal candidate has a passion for using data and insights to drive activity and ultimately make informed decisions.

Sourcing new investments is the cornerstone of Five Elms’ success

In this role, you will be a key member of the Five Elms’ Sourcing Operations Team working to:

Integrate new data sources and automate data movement:

• Develop clean processes for extracting and preparing data from third-party sources utilizing APIs, data licenses, web scraping, or other methods for use in our database

• Create streamlined processes for moving data between our database and team-facing products (Google Sheets, WebApp, etc.)

Integrate new data sources and automate data movement:

• Learn and document how a data-driven investment firm aggregates data to outperform competitors

• Automate reporting functionality to display team activity and our investment pipeline

Utilize data science to drive prioritization of our sourcing funnel:

• Analyze our sourcing pipeline to drive decisions that will optimize our interaction and investment in companies

• Explore the application of generative AI / LLMs within the investment space and our existing workflows

* Our core stack includes R and PostgreSQL, but we are open to the application of Python or other coding languages when applicable. We work in AWS, utilizing services such as S3, EC2, ECS, and more.
