JOB DESCRIPTION: The Baseball/Softball Umpire ensures fair and accurate officiating during games while maintaining a respectful and safe environment for players, coaches, and spectators at the ballpark. The City of Olivette is seeking a reliable, experienced umpire to officiate our youth baseball & softball games. Umpires will be responsible for maintaining the flow of the game while ensuring a positive and educational experience for all participants. LOCATION: Five Oaks on Warson (community center), 1200 N Warson Rd Olivette MO 63132 SCHEDULE: This is a part-time position that works a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends not to exceed 29 hours per week. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Officiate youth baseball and/or softball games, ensuring adherence to league rules and regulations. Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor with players, coaches, and spectators. Make accurate and fair calls on pitches, hits, and plays based on the established rules. Communicate with coaches and players regarding game situations in a calm and authoritative manner. Manage game-time situations effectively, including ensuring player safety and enforcing fair play. Work as part of a team of umpires and sports specialists, coordinating responsibilities during the game. Set up and break down the field as needed before and after games. Enforce the rules of the game and maintain control over the game environment to foster a positive and educational atmosphere. Perform other duties as assigned.
