Job Overview
FPDS is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. Reporting to the CFO, this role will oversee general accounting, accounts payable, acquisition accounting, and audit management in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic financial leader to make a significant impact at a rapidly growing, highly acquisitive company.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals, including two Assistant Controllers, an AP Manager, four AP Specialists, and four Staff Accountants.
- Oversee accounts payable, general ledger management, financial reporting, and acquisition accounting, including opening balance sheets and net working capital.
- Serve as a backup for cash and treasury functions.
- Direct year-end financial audits, including the preparation of PBC schedules and corporate financial audits.
- Oversee the setup and integration of new acquisitions into Sage Intacct, ensuring seamless financial transitions.
- Manage journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations (e.g., debt, payroll, credit card accruals, AP accruals, revenue deferrals, amortization, earnouts, and working capital true-ups).
- Assess and improve existing accounting practices and procedures to drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Play a key role in the annual budgeting process.
- Collaborate with tax accountants to ensure timely tax return preparation.
- Handle ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed.
- Develop and mentor the accounting team by setting goals, providing training, and fostering a positive work environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory roles.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with multi-site healthcare or acquisitions is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of an organization.
- Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of driving results and process improvements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems, particularly Sage Intacct.
- A strong desire to become a subject matter expert in the financial systems used by the company.
