Position Description
Supervises the day-to-day activities of workers engaged in operating and maintaining assigned park facilities. Assures that the park is aesthetically attractive, safe and useful to the visiting public, and that parks exemplify and communicate the MetroParks' vision, mission, and core values.
.Duties/Responsibilities

- Performs personnel management activities for assigned staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, promotions, discipline, evaluations and terminations.
- Participates in all phases of the assigned department operating and capital budgets, including the preparation of cost estimates, ordering and inventorying equipment and supplies, and monitoring all aspects of the operating budget in conformance with adopted Five Rivers MetroParks policies and procedures. Oversees processing and record keeping of all payments for expenditures as well as revenues and for developing cost of service documents and achieving cost recovery targets.
- Responds to the concerns and complaints of volunteers, user groups or the public.
- Oversees and supervises work crews engaged in the maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings, grounds and trails, assuring that parks are clean and safe and that the buildings and equipment are in good repair.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, and assists workers in solving work related problems.
- Works with contractors, other MetroParks supervisors and staff to accomplish the goals of the organization.
- Plans daily assignments, prioritize jobs, and secures adequate equipment and tools to ensure that assigned staff can satisfactorily complete all assignments.
- Supervises or performs routine and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
- Maintains time and work records of employees.
- Inspects parks including play equipment, bridges, dams, trails, buildings, fixtures, landscapes, and hardscapes.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining excellent public relations. Serves as a liaison to promote MetroParks mission and meets the needs of user groups, community groups, commissions, agencies and other persons and entities. Responds appropriately and promptly to complaints submitted by visitors, user groups, the general public and others. Encourages citizen involvement with the park and the MetroParks as a whole. Demonstrates stewardship and responsible land management practices and green practices as a community partner.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive records and information.
- Works assigned schedules, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works outside of normal schedules as required.
- Makes presentations to the public, civic groups, and other organizations to provide information about
- MetroParks, its facilities and its services.
- Collaborates internally, within and across departmental boundaries, to provide information and service to others in the organization to contribute to the effective operation of the agency and all staff
- Directly supervises assigned staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with MetroParks policies and applicable laws, and delegated authority. Responsibilities include participating in, and making recommendations pertaining to the selection and discipline of employees, and other personnel decisions. Plans and delegates work assignments, trains employees, provides guidance, resolves work issues, and ensures work complies with MetroPark policy and performance standards.

Minimum Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A combination of appropriate education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is:
- Associate's degree in park management, natural resources or a closely related field.
- Three years' experience in park management, including experience in facility and grounds maintenance and supervision of others.
- Willingness and ability to frequently work an irregular schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Valid Drivers' License which meets Five Rivers MetroParks' insurance carrier guidelines.
