What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equestrian Aide Seasonal position at Five Rivers MetroParks?
The Equestrian Aide is responsible for the care of horses, and general cleanliness and maintenance of stables and barn areas. This position will assist with Riding Center programming for the public including lessons, trail rides, camps, and pony rides. Equestrian Aides are required to work weekend hours both Saturday and Sunday throughout the season.

- Responsible for daily care of horses including feeding, watering, and cleaning stalls.
- Responsible for getting horses prepared for daily programs, which may include grooming and tacking horses.
- Lead trail rides for customers, provide pony rides, and act as an arena assistant during lessons and camps. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensures riding center facilities and equipment are maintained, in proper condition, and horses are cared for properly.
- Demonstrable skill in horseback riding, either Western or English and basic horsemanship skills.
- Ability to provide verbal instructions to patrons on horseback
- Assists in moving hay; including the transporting, unloading and stacking of hay, feed, and bedding.
- Bringing horses in and turning them out.
- Operating vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to tractors, small harrow or drag, and small ATV equipment.
- Loading and unloading hay, feed, and bedding
- Performs other duties as assigned.

A combination of appropriate education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is:
High school degree or GED and knowledge of basic Western and/or English horsemanship as well as; experience working with horse.
Valid Drivers' License which meets Five Rivers MetroParks' insurance carrier guidelines.
Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check and drug screening test prior to employment.
