We are currently accepting applications for an Assistant Special Education Director to join our top-notch administrative team. We seek candidates who are highly effective communicators, well-organized, understand Special Education law, and understand best practices in the field of special education in a variety of programming areas. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years teaching in the field of special education with some administrative experience, but if you have alternative relevant experience, don’t hesitate to apply!

Among other responsibilities, the Assistant Special Education Director is responsible for hiring and supervising education technicians, providing professional development, and running IEP meetings. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director to ensure consistency, effective practices, and the strategic allocation of resources within the department.

Requirements also include:

• Master’s Degree in special education, educational leadership, administration, or a related field;

• At least five years teaching experience in the field of special education;

• One of the following State of Maine certifications:

o 035 (Assistant Administrator of Special Education),

o 030 (Administrator of Special Education); and

• Valid Maine Criminal History Records Check
