College Counselor/College Counseling Services Office
Function of Position:
The function of the College Counseling Services Office/College Counselor is to provide counseling to students, including crisis intervention, personal counseling, assessment and referrals for the emotional, psychological and situational issues that impact success for the Five Towns College Student. This may also include faculty consultation and acting as a liaison between different departments. The College Counselor/College Counseling Services Office will provide groups as well as workshops based upon the needs of the students that attend Five Towns College.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe and confidential atmosphere for the students to be able to express their emotions and experiences.
- Conduct assessments when necessary for students that are mandated to the College Counseling Services Office due to disciplinary actions.
- Provide crisis counseling on campus as necessary.
- Make appropriate outside referrals or recommendations for students if necessary.
- Examine issues including but not limited to: homesickness, depression, conflict resolution, substance abuse, anxiety, stress, family issues, academic issues, relationship issues and general emotional wellness.
- Demonstrate ability to work with a diverse student population.
- Demonstrate the ability to work within a collegial environment along with faculty, administrators, and staff.
- Collaborate with academic and student development departments in order to support, enhance and partner in programs that further a student’s educational success.
- Run groups and or workshops as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
· License Mental Health Counselor preferred or Master’s in Mental Health Counselor (working towards licensure)
· Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
· Organizational skills.
· Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
