What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Fives North American Combustion, Inc.?
At Fives, we all have a part to play in achieving our common mission. Your role will be :
- Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.
- Prepares purchase orders in SAP or bid requests.
- Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Maintains procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
- Acts as a liaison between manufacturing / engineering and the supplier
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- Keeps abreast of market trends, changes in business practices in the assigned markets, new or altered types of materials entering the market, etc.
- Work with manufacturers or persuade potential vendors to undertake the manufacturing of custom-designed items according to user's specific needs and specifications.
- Approve invoices for payment.
- Expedite delivery of goods to users.
- Supplier setup in ERP system
- Assess demand for categories of responsibility
- Issue purchase orders to suppliers
- Issue acknowledgements
- Work with suppliers to ensure goods are delivered timely and accurately
- Identify and develop new suppliers
- Work with the inventory management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back-ordered or missing products
